Our family is what I call an "ADHD family". Why in the world would I call it this?
It is because, in our experience, ADHD affects everyone. The person who IS ADHD obviously has his struggles and the other people in the family react to the ADHD in what some call the ADHD effect. The one plays into the other.
One of the extremely helpful tools I have found, apart from up skilling myself as a mom who lives with ADHD children and being a wife to ADHD spouse, is to belong to a support group.
In our local area we have a large support group that offers interesting speakers.. I run a small group from my home.. We meet once a term as a group and share our stories, hopes and struggles as well as encouraging one another with advice and ideas.. It has been enormously helpful to share life with a great bunch of women who I like to call Supermoms.. From time to time we might have a focus shared by someone.
It has been a blessing to be a part of and a priveledge to host.
